If you are unable to take a Puppet certification exam either by using standard testing equipment or within the standard exam duration, please email Puppet’s certification team at education@puppet.com to discuss available accommodations. In your message, be sure to include the following:
- “Accommodation Request” in the email subject
- Your name
- Your Puppet ID provided by QuestionMark
- Type of accommodation you need
- Contact information, including your email address and phone number
You must send this email to Puppet at least three weeks before you register for an exam. QuestionMark proctors will work with you to accommodate your needs as best they can. We keep the information you provide and any documentation about your accommodation in strict confidence, and we won’t share it without your written permission.
- You aren’t penalized for providing incorrect answers. If you choose an incorrect answer, you simply do not earn credit for that item. No points are deducted for incorrect answers or answers left blank.
- If a question specifies that you must choose multiple correct answers, you must choose the exact number of correct answers specified in the question to earn the credit for a correct answer. Partial credit is not given.
- Scoring is calculated by totaling up the number of correct answers and determining if this is above or below the established passing score for that particular exam.
We do not publish the passing score for our exam. Passing scores are evaluated and determined individually for each exam based on the criteria tested and the expected performance of a qualified candidate — they are not a simple 80% or 90% passing rate that is decided arbitrarily. The passing score is established based on the exam content, is unique to each exam, and is subject to change as different versions of the exam are created. Therefore it is our policy not to publish this score.
No. Your exam results are held in the strictest confidence and will be provided to only you.
LinkedIn is an excellent tool for sharing your professional accomplishments. To add your Puppet Professional certification to your LinkedIn profile, complete these steps. You may also choose to share your Puppet Certified Professional badge, which you will be awarded upon certification.
Puppet certifications align with Puppet Enterprise releases: Your certification doesn’t expire, but your certification becomes outdated as subsequent versions of the exam are released. The Puppet Certified Professional exam is updated approximately every 24 months, keeping in step with Puppet Enterprise releases. We recommend you maintain the current version of the certification.
Your certification version is marked on your certificate and corresponds to the year in which the product version was released.
If you do not pass the exam, you can retake the exam in accordance with our retake policy:

- If you don’t pass the exam after your second attempt, you must wait 90 days before a third attempt.
