We ran a bold experiment this year by changing the format of our user conference and spreading the event across three cities over 24 hours with a continuous live stream of content. I'm so proud we had presence in so many different locations around the world, and I was thrilled to be able to welcome so many people who wouldn’t have otherwise been able to attend a user conference in the USA to experience an in-person community gathering.
As we reviewed the rest of the feedback we received, a few common threads emerged as to changes you’d like to see. First, many of you shared that you missed the opportunity to connect with a large swath of the Puppet community. Second, many of you loved the content and wanted more — more days and more tracks. Third, you missed the in-person experience of Contributor Summit that we’ve traditionally had as part of our annual user conference.
We heard you and we’re thrilled to share some early plans for 2019. We plan to hold two events in 2019 for Puppet users and contributors.
Our big user event, Puppetize PDX, will be held in Portland, Oregon on 9-10 October. This two-day event will include three tracks of content primarily focused on Puppet users and their managers, as well as contributor-focused topics.
We’re also happy to announce a contributor-focused event in mid-2019 that will span two days with a single track of content entirely focused on contributors. We’ll hold this event in continental Europe.
We’re still working out the details for both events but wanted to share our plans based on your feedback. If you have any questions, please reach out to us in the #puppetize-pdx room of the Puppet Community Slack. I hope to see you in 2019!
