We’re doing our best to minimize the file size of the Learning VM, but we’re well aware that it’s not exactly a small download! If you have trouble completing the download, please consider using a download manager.
The new and improved Learning VM – along with its companion Quest Guide – is here to help you level up on Puppet. Explore the technology in depth with a series of detailed, multi-step quests. Master topics such as accessing the Puppet Enterprise console, writing and using Puppet modules, and delving into Puppet resources, manifests, facts and more.
While the VM is downloading, check that you have an up-to-date version of your virtualization software. We suggest using either VirtualBox or a VMware application appropriate for your platform. VirtualBox is free and available for Linux, OS X, and Windows. VMware has several desktop virtualization applications, including VMWare Fusion for Mac and VMware Workstation for Windows.
To get started with the Learning VM, unzip the Learning VM archive and follow the instructions in the included readme.rtf
file.
If you have issues unzipping the file, use the MD5 sum provided at the VM download page to verify your download. On Mac OS X and *nix systems, you can use the command md5
learning_puppet_vm.zip
and compare the output to the MD5 sum provided on the download page. On Windows systems, you will need to download and use a tool such as the Microsoft File Checksum Integrity Verifier.
If you run into any problems getting started, feel free to get in touch at learningvm@puppet.com and we’ll do our best to help.
