What is PuppetConf 2017?
PuppetConf 2017 is a two-plus day conference that will include in-person training, more than 80 education sessions, the opportunity to connect with more than expert speakers and 1,300+ people. Attendees will get practical advice and guidance for thriving in an increasingly complex technology landscape. Attendees can also register for pre-conference activities that start 8 October, including Puppet-led training and certification sessions and the Contributor Summit. The conference features a wider than ever range of content, with in-depth sessions and Puppet training for everyone, including beginners, intermediate and expert Puppet users. Sessions will cover the topics IT professionals care about most: DevOps, cloud management, next­ generation infrastructure, application delivery, security and compliance, continuous delivery, career and personal development, and more.
Who should attend?

PuppetConf 2017 will host an estimated 1,300 on­site and 2,500 live­streaming IT professionals charged with managing enterprise, architecture, web operations, and application development & deployment, technology evangelists and entrepreneurs who leverage cloud-based technology for agility and efficiency, and IT researchers investigating high performance computing. Attendees are Puppet users of all levels ­- beginning, intermediate and advanced ­- and include a variety of roles such as engineers, practitioners, architects, IT managers, directors, and C­-level executives.

When and where is PuppetConf 2017?

PuppetConf 2017 will be held in San Francisco, California, at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square hotel. Pre-conference training is available 8-10 October and is not included in the cost of attending the main conference. The conference itself is 10-12 October, starting the evening of 10 October. Event registration is required for all attendee activities.

Here’s a basic schedule breakdown for this year’s event:

  • Sunday 8 October -­ Tuesday 10 October: in­-person training classes (pre-registration is required)
  • Tuesday 10 October: exhibitor set­up, registration, welcome reception, Puppet Contributor Summit
  • Wednesday 11 October ­- Thursday 12 October: keynotes, track sessions, exhibitor pavilion, networking, parties and more!

How do I convince my boss that I should attend?

Where should I stay?

We are excited to share that we’ve booked a special discounted rate for attendees to stay at the conference hotel, the Hilton San Francisco Union Square hotel. The cut­-off date is Monday 18 September but keep in mind we’ll likely sell out before the deadline, so be sure to book today.

What should I wear?

PuppetConf 2017 attendees are encouraged to wear casual or business casual attire. You’ll also receive an event t­-shirt when you check­-in at the registration desk while supplies last.

What meals are included?

During the main event which starts Tuesday 10 October at the welcome reception, attendees will enjoy finger food and beverages. On Wednesday 11 October and Thursday 12 October, we’ll provide breakfast, networking breaks & lunches. End the evening on 11 October at the Puppet Party and enjoy food, drinks and live entertainment.

*Basic meals are also provided with in­-person training classes and the Puppet Contributor Summit. Pre­-registration for these events is required to attend.

What types of additional training sessions are available?

What and when is the Puppet Contributor Summit? Should I attend?

The Contributor Summit is a free event to all PuppetConf 2017 attendees who’d like to attend but pre­-registration is required! To register for this event, select “PuppetConf + Contributor Summit” when registering for PuppetConf 2017.

What if I’ve already registered for PuppetConf 2017 but want to add the Contributor Summit to my conference ticket?

If you’ve already registered for PuppetConf 2017 but didn’t include the Puppet Contributor Summit and would like to attend, you can add it at no additional cost by emailing puppetconf@puppet.com. You must be pre­-registered for both PuppetConf and the Contributor Summit in order to attend.

What is the cancellation and refund policy for PuppetConf 2017?

PuppetConf tickets are transferable up to the date of the conference. If you can't attend, you can request a refund. Send the refund request to puppetconf@puppet.com by the earlier of (i) 8 September 2017 and (ii) one hundred eighty (180) days after the date you purchased your ticket. Any refund requests made after that date will not be approved.

Is there Wi-Fi on­site?

Yes. We will have signs throughout the conference space noting how to connect to the conference Wi-Fi, and the password is puppetconf2017.

Is there a mobile app?

Do I need to wear a name badge?

Your badge is your ticket to everything while you’re at PuppetConf 2017 -- talks, exhibit hall, parties, meetups and all conference activities you wish to attend. Please make sure yours is always visible.

Can I bring a guest to social events?

No, only registered attendees are eligible to attend meals and social events.

Is a waiver needed for the 5K run on Wednesday morning?

Yes, a waiver is needed to participate in the 5K run. Please complete the form and bring it with you (we will also have forms on hand at the event).

Can I purchase Puppet merchanise at PuppetConf?

Yes, visit the Puppet Pop-up Shop located in the exhibit hall (Continental Ballroom, level 2) within the Puppet Experience booth.

Does the hotel have a nursing mother's room, single-occupancy or gender neutral bathroom?

The Hilton doesn't have a dedicated nursing mother's room, or any single-occupancy or gender neutral bathrooms. We have reserved a sleeping room that anyone who wishes may use. A key is available at the PuppetConf registration desk, just ask for the “single use” room key.
