Attributes and resources

Data Project Beta provides you full visibility into your Puppet Enterprise (PE) managed infrastructure. When you set up Data Project Beta, your PE-managed nodes connect and start collecting data. Note that nodes only collect data from the time they connect to Data Project Beta, and do not provide a full data history.

Data Project Beta separates your data into attributes and resources:

  • Attributes include PE facts (trusted and custom), Resource Abstraction Layer (RAL) data and packages.
  • Resources are an aspect of your system, for example, users and firewall rules.

You can find all your attributes and resources on the Settings page. This is where you choose which attributes and resources are displayed in Data Project Beta’s report charts.

Activate attributes and resources

Activating attributes and resources moves your data from cold storage to hot storage and displays it in the report charts.

  1. In Data Project Beta, click Settings.
  2. Select the attributes and resources you want to activate.
What to do next
Navigate to a report to see these attributes and resources displayed in the charts. It can take a while for Data Project Beta to load these.

Archive attributes and resources

Archiving attributes and resources moves your data from hot storage to cold storage. Your archived attributes and resources continue to collect data and retain their history, but they are not displayed in the report charts.

  1. In Data Project Beta, click Settings.
  2. Deselect the attributes and resources you want to archive.
