Cloud Strategic Alliances Director

Puppet is looking for a Director, Cloud Strategic Alliances with strong deal, strategy and relationship management experience to accelerate our cloud partner ecosystem with AWS, Azure & GCP. The objective is to work with the selected cloud partners to extend our market reach, drive commercial outcomes and cloud relevancy.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience and passion in incubating, launching and scaling cloud partnerships, and will work with the partners' alliances, engineering, product management, partner marketing & sales teams to ensure alignment with their Puppet counterparts to achieve partnering goals. This individual will possess a balance of technical knowledge, co sales and co marketing background and leadership skills that enables them to engage with partner sales teams. 

This is a critical role within the Puppet Business Development and Alliances team, and will require cross-functional leadership skills to work with stakeholders including Puppet Sales, Support, Services, Product and Engineering. This role will be a major change agent, having impact and influence with a high degree of energy, flexibility and drive to create real and measurable business results. This position reports to the VP of Business Development & Alliances within the office of the Chief Revenue Officer.

Candidates should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical opportunities, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions and work cross-organizationally to build consensus. 

We are looking for candidates that are drivers, work well in an unstructured, team-oriented environment, be comfortable with uncertainty and perform well under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of cloud partnership plans that span build with, market with and sell with motions
  • Coordinate the development of internal and external-facing marketing and sales collateral supporting GTM efforts
  • Work closely with the Puppet Sales organization to broker account mapping and field-level relationships with cloud partners and Puppet sales teams
  • Develop expertise with the partner's current areas of focus as well as potential areas for expansion
  • Define and communicate Puppet's value propositions to partners' teams (alliances, marketing, sales).
  • Work cross-functionally with Business Operations,  Legal, Marketing, Product Marketing, Program Management, Services, Sales, Marketing and other internal organizations across Puppet on a regular basis
  • Initiate and develop strong, sustainable, trusted advisor relationships across public cloud partner executive management,  technology leaders, and client team leaders that can be leveraged to create new Cloud initiatives and net new revenue streams for Puppet
  • Lead and drive successful executive quarterly business reviews with cloud partners and Puppet senior management.  
  • Experience leading complex operational and strategic initiatives. Experience facilitating complex agreements, contracts and transactions.
  • Ability to present to executives and communicate with a technical management team.

Qualifications

  • Deep domain expertise driving cloud partnership with AWS, AZURE & GCP
  • Self Driven- ability to independently develop business plans, success metrics 
  • Self-sufficient, focused leader with a propensity towards execution and driving revenue results
  • Natural and effortless relationship management / partner development skills
  • Minimum of 10+ years' experience in Business Development and Strategic Alliances roles
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with an ability to speak effectively to business development leaders, executives, product managers, engineers, legal etc, and have a professional demeanor
  • A business leader who is able to influence and build relationships with people across all levels and organizations internally and externally
  • Passionate Field Alliances/Channel champion who can provide world-class program management and thought leadership to increase revenue and drive incremental business opportunities
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Must be able to prioritize and multi-task with special attention to detail and follow-up
  • Ability to run quickly with little supervision and adapt to a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large, matrixed partner organizations.

Education preferred:

  • BA/BS degree in a management, technical, or engineering field.
