Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Director

at Puppet, Inc. Remote North America

Hi, I’m Brittni Beers-Branco, SVP of People at Puppet,

I’m looking for a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Director to join our team to help us further our position as an employer of choice through growing a culture of systemic equity, inclusion, and respect that connects and empowers employees to do their best work and continue to grow our incredible team. We are a values driven company where diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is held at our core. Over the past year, we partnered with a third party DEI consultant to help us uncover systemic equity and inclusion blindspots, in an effort to drive meaningful and sustained change through a strategy and roadmap. While we expect every employee to play a role in our journey toward true equity, inclusion, and belonging we are excited to add a DEI Director to our team as we enter the next step in our journey. This role will solidify the implementation of strategies, programs, and actions that result in structural equity and inclusion that supports our globally diverse workforce and achieves Puppet’s business goals. If transformation and change work alongside a passionate team excites you, join our Puppet team!

Meaningful work you’ll contribute

  • Develop and implement Puppet-wide programs, initiatives, and tangible actions that deliver against Puppet’s DEI mission, vision, and strategy.
  • Operationalize and drive progress toward Puppet’s iterative DEI strategic roadmap by identifying clear measures of success, and building relationships across the business to ensure accountability of ongoing roadmap deliverables.
  • Bring strong awareness of global diversity issues and remediation approaches to the team.
  • Guide and provide oversight to Puppet DEI programs and employee-led groups including Puppet’s global IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access) Council and location-specific DEI working groups, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), and Puppet’s pledge to the CEO Action.
  • Be the DEI subject matter expert providing coaching and mentorship as well as contributing perspective, insights, knowledge, and the enablement of all employees from individual contributors to executive-level leaders.
  • Design and facilitate diversity, equity, and inclusion training and enablement planning, directly or through external partners, tailored to roles at all levels in the organization.

You are…

  • An entrepreneurial-minded spirit—you enjoy solving complex problems, digging in to understand the problem at its core and engaging with others to come up with solutions. You are excited to try new things, pivoting quickly, while working to hold yourself and others to results.
  • A team player—you are highly collaborative and an engaging contributor. You enjoy partnering cross functionally, cross regionally and with all levels, seeking to build out diversity of representation.
  • A resilient change agent—you acknowledge setbacks as growth opportunities and ask for support where needed, you quickly recover and see the opportunity ahead. Your resiliency allows you to naturally influence who is able to facilitate, promote, and enable change efforts.
  • An inclusive and empathetic leader—you value all perspectives through your super power listening skills. You are able to balance and harmonize employee and business needs.  Through your listening skills, you create safe spaces to work with others through issues and conflict.
  • The ultimate accountability partner—you do the hard work and hold others to the same expectation. You recognize that this work is only successful when the whole team is in it together and inspires others to come along for the journey.

Valuable experiences and skills you’ll bring to Puppet

  • Expert DEI industry knowledge and the implementation of best practices with measures of success, having directly worked and led in the DEI space for 6 to 10 years
  • Strong written & presentation communication abilities to reach broad audiences
  • Skilled coach and mentor as well as developer and facilitator of DEI enablement
  • Ability to manage large projects holding yourself and others accountable to timelines and results
  • Deep understanding and application of change management concepts and how they relate to transformation efforts
  • Ability to build strong relationships across all levels within the organization as well as cross functionally and cross culturally
  • Strong community organizing and action skills and ability to elicit participation with DEI efforts across an organization

We are hiring at various experience levels and we’re particularly interested in having a diverse team with a broad set of skills and viewpoints. If this seems like your dream job, but you’re not sure if you qualify, apply anyway!
