Public Relations Manager

at Puppet, Inc. Remote North America

Hi, I’m Zibby Keaton, Director of Marketing and Communications at Puppet,

I’m looking for a Public Relations Manager to join our team to own our public relations program. In this role, you will help define and expand the importance of Puppet within the media today. This is an opportunity to work with global external and internal teams to drive Puppet’s message forward and position the company for its next growth phase.

Meaningful work you will be involved in:

  • Work cross-functionally within the marketing team to ensure alignment on product and corporate messaging and message follow-through in external content.
  • Directly manage global PR agencies, setting regional strategies and objectives that support overarching corporate PR strategy.
  • Work with executives to both develop strategic messaging and deliver guidance and direct feedback to improve media relations.
  • Proactively identify areas where the PR team can be more efficient and productive with our PR events and other programs, by streamlining processes, reducing duplication of activities, and removing obstacles. Work to build solutions to make the global team more effective.
  • Cultivate and train a global set of spokespeople who can represent various facets of Puppet’s key messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Manage budgets and contracts; handle relationships with vendors supplying services to the PR function.
  • Help manage and execute all fundamental elements of a PR program including corporate, product and partner news.
  • Craft influential bylines/opinion articles and blogs that establish company as a thought leader, and help secure coverage across a variety of different outlets.

You are:

  • An entrepreneurial-minded spirit—you enjoy the challenge of expanding new territory and have a knack for building new programs and improving existing systems.
  • A team player—you understand that you can’t get the job done alone. You build alignment on plans and bring parties together to drive impact and change.
  • Scrappy and self-directed. You are skilled at autonomously driving projects in a startup environment with minimal guidance and limited resources while having a ton of freedom and creativity to continue moving forward. You roll up your sleeves and drive execution and results.
  • A storyteller—you know how to find and build a good story.
  • A trend finder—you know when a trend is going to last and when it’s going to fade. This is one of your biggest strengths and something you want to build and nurture.

Valuable experiences and skills you’ll bring to Puppet

  • 6+ years of B2B public relations or product marketing experience.
  • Proven experience in measurably growing awareness, recognition, and buzz in the marketplace through press, influencers, and analysts -- globally.
  • Proven ability directing and managing high-performing agency teams with a focus on continual improvement, process development, communication and knowledge sharing while also ensuring program remains within budget.
  • Track record of counseling senior executives with proven ability to influence professionals and senior leaders and to navigate complex situations.
  • Demonstrated business and tech industry acumen. Background in enterprise software and/or cloud computing a plus.
  • Experience integrating PR with digital marketing, content and broader marketing activities.
  • Proven ability to hire and effectively direct the efforts of global PR agencies.
  • Strong communicator, oral and written, with confidence to develop and present ideas.

We are hiring at various experience levels and we’re particularly interested in having a diverse team with a broad set of skills and viewpoints. If this seems like your dream job, but you’re not sure if you qualify, apply anyway!
