Director of Engineering

at Puppet, Inc. Remote North America

Hi, I’m Deepak, Chief Technology Officer at Puppet,

I am looking for a Director of Engineering to join us in building our newest product: Relay. Relay is a SaaS product focused on allowing users to build automation in minutes instead of days. Like Puppet did with configuration management for conventional infrastructure, Relay is defining a new market for orchestrating and integrating cloud-native APIs, a space which has become notoriously hard to manage due to an explosion of tools and services. Relay can listen for events from popular services that people already use and then trigger workflows to implement cloud compliance, cost management, incident response, and other use cases.

Our engineering team is small, fast-paced, and has the autonomy to define how we implement cloud native technologies. We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who is passionate about building a team, wants the opportunity to make a large impact in a new market, and enjoys pushing the boundaries of what is possible. You will have the opportunity to set the strategy of the product and define best practices for the engineering team. You will work on a highly entrepreneurial team that operates like a start-up, with the advantage of being supported by a highly successful company.

Meaningful work you’ll contribute

  • Help plan the product roadmap, and set the strategy, in conjunction with the Director of Product
  • Work closely with the engineering team to continue building on an agreed upon set of best practices
  • Work with other departments within Puppet to help reach mutual success
  • Inspire the team to meet important deadlines
  • Talk directly to customers and help with customer success
  • Build the team strategically through recruiting and hiring

Valuable experiences and skills you’ll bring to Puppet

  • Led a team in building and delivering a complex SaaS application
  • Knowledge of microservice architecture and best practices
  • Working in cloud environments
  • Broad technical experience and up-to-date industry knowledge, with ability to evaluate new solutions as they arise
  • Hiring and building teams
  • Mentoring engineers

You are...

  • Passionate – with a love for solving user problems with software.
  • A team player – who is collaborative and enjoys learning from and sharing knowledge with other developers in a team environment.
  • Curious – with a drive to learn and understand.

We are hiring at various experience levels and we’re particularly interested in having a diverse team with a broad set of skills and viewpoints. If this seems like your dream job, but you’re not sure if you qualify, apply anyway!

*Visa Sponsorship

Please note, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
