Internal Communications Specialist

at Puppet, Inc. Portland, OR

Hi, I’m Laura Raney, Manager of Internal Communications at Puppet,

I’m looking for an Internal Communications Specialist to join the Puppet team. In this role, you’ll help unify our global team on what matters at Puppet. This is an opportunity to work cross-functionally, with numerous stakeholders and leaders, and to have a direct impact on the success of our powerful organization.

Internal communications designs the mode for communicating day-to-day at Puppet and helps a passionate team to easily stay informed and engaged. We deliver important information in order to minimize disruption and maximize connection.

  • You’ll be a connector – staying in the know on what our teammates around the organization are spending their time focusing on so that the rest of the team can champion and support one another while moving forward in their work.
  • You’ll be an imperative part of engaging employees on Puppet’s strategy and forward focus. We’ve got high-reaching goals at the team level and at the company level, and you’ll help make it easy for employees to stay informed so they can do their best work.
  • You’ll regularly partner with internal stakeholders to strategically implement communications aiming to align and inspire employees around Puppet’s mission, business strategy, and priorities.
  • Support ongoing channels for easy-to-navigate and reliable information, including newsletter publications, blogs, and other mediums that connect employees to priorities and key initiatives.
  • Offer feedback to others who are developing written content for appropriate tone and channel.

You are…

  • Entrepreneurial. You seek out solutions and approach work in an agile way, with a sense of urgency and creativity.
  • A team player. You listen and consider the impact on the wide-ranging audience and stakeholder group(s). You are open to feedback and new ideas for the sake of the best outcome. You recognize the value in collaboration and you include subject experts in order to achieve accuracy.
  • Accountable. You own objectives and priorities and deliver on what you say you’ll do.
  • Inclusive. You demonstrate thoughtfulness and actively engage with varying ideas, attributes, backgrounds, and experiences across our Puppet community.
  • Inspiring. You consider creative ways to consistently engage and connect across functions, levels, and perspectives.
  • One who drives clarity in ambiguity. You uncover clarity at all times for sake of accurate and cohesive messaging.
  • A strategic executor. You create thorough plans and measures for success.

Valuable experiences and skills you’ll bring to Puppet

  • Ability to demonstrate advanced oral and written communication in a professional setting.
  • 3-5 years of corporate communications experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Intermediate ability using Google collaboration suite.
  • Ability to understand the needs of unique audiences based on change message.
  • Experience sifting through the “noise” and identifying relevant messages for various audiences.
  • Strong strategic thinking, writing, problem-solving, technical and analytical skills are tremendously beneficial in this role.
  • Understanding how content creation transforms uninformed into champions.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.

Bonus, but not required (shout about it in your application if you have experience):

  • Background in user experience design
  • Foundational design knowledge

We are hiring at various experience levels and we’re particularly interested in having a diverse team with a broad set of skills and viewpoints. If this seems like your dream job, but you’re not sure if you qualify, apply anyway!
