Senior Revenue Accountant

Hi, I’m Lisa Barringer, Revenue Accounting Manager, at Puppet,

I’m looking for a Senior Revenue Accountant to join our team to play a key part in our revenue team’s next stage of growth. This position is essential to not only our revenue recognition compliance under ASC 606, but also partnering with the revenue operations, professional services and finance departments. An outstanding Senior Revenue Accountant has exceptional software revenue account skills, has strong attention to detail, and values being part of a team.

Meaningful work you’ll contribute 

  • Timely bookings and contract review - responsible for applying ASC 606 in determining the appropriate revenue treatment for new bookings and contracts in order to enable on-time revenue close and resolution of potential revenue recognition issues. 
  • Active management of deferred revenues in accordance with GAAP and company policies - enabling accurate and timely information is provided to the finance team for purposes of revenue and cash forecasting.
  • Own the monthly revenue close procedures ensuring timely delivery of information to stakeholders in accounting, finance, customer success, education, and training sales.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams  to help streamline operational processes from quote to cash

Valuable experiences and skills you’ll bring to Puppet 

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Software industry experience
  • Familiarity in applying revenue recognition principles related to software, service contracts, and multiple element deliverables
  • Deep knowledge of ASC 606
  • Reviewing customer contracts for revenue recognition implications
  • Calculating and maintaining Stand-alone Selling Price (SSP) 
  • Drafting technical accounting memos and documentation

Bonus, but not required (shout about it in your application if you have experience):

  • Public accounting experience
  • CPA
  • Experience with Intacct and Salesforce
