Senior SE Manager EMEA

at Puppet, Inc. London, UK

Hi, I’m Martyn Storey, Senior Director of Global Sales Engineering, at Puppet,

I’m looking for a Senior Presales Manager to join our team and lead the EMEA presales organization. As the EMEA leader of our presales team, you’ll own all presales activities for the region, partner with sales VP/Directors and professional services management, helping to drive both product and services revenues.  In addition, you will grow, mentor, and develop the team with thought leadership creating a world-class presales organization. We’re looking for a people-centric leader who will identify and implement organizational structure, best practices, metrics, methodologies and processes, cross-functional linkages, etc. to set the business up for continued, stable, growth.

Responsibilities...

  • Lead a growing team of 10 presales consultants from around the EMEA region
  • Direct and guide employee development through performance reviews, and keep very close to your reports with regular 1:1s
  • Be an evangelist of our automation solutions, and vision towards customers, partners, and employees
  • Define the vision, mission, strategy, and execution with KPIs of the technical team in EMEA
  • Co-define the sales and GTM motion for EMEA in partnership with the EMEA VP of sales
  • Be part of the business reviews of all regions
  • Own the scaling of sales and technical best practices across EMEA
  • Own technical escalations in order to keep customer satisfaction high
  • Ensure a high-quality customer experience with regard to technical designs, proposals, PoCs and SOWs
  • Work in cross-functional projects at EMEA and worldwide level
  • Collaboration with APAC and AMER SE leadership teams

You are…

  • Customer obsessed.  You know that this means driving a team and culture that puts the customer at the epicenter of everything we do.
  • Someone that leads by example.  You inspire, you are able to make difficult decisions but not in a vacuum, you are able and willing to roll-up your sleeves when necessary but very strong at trusting in your team to get the job done right.
  • Humble.  You have a lot of confidence in yourself as you have “been there, done that” but you know you are still, and always want to be, learning.  Continual learning is important both for yourself but also for your team. You operate with the highest levels of integrity at all times
  • A great teammate and cross-functional collaborator.  You know how to build relationships not only within your functional area but you know you will only be successful if you reach out and establish relationships across the organization.
  • You are honest and direct and don’t play politics.  You just want to get the job done right and care a lot about how you do about doing that.

Valuable experiences and skills you’ll bring to Puppet...

  • An undergraduate business or technical degree, or 10 yrs applicable experience in presales is required
  • 5 + years consulting and/or presales management experience in the technology/application domains
  • Ideally, come from an infrastructure background with experience in cloud and  automation technologies.
  • Excellent strategy development and problem-solving skills as well as business development focus and experience (e.g., relative to new products, services and go-to-market approaches), while possessing a broad level of technology understanding and substantial operational and financial acumen
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Experience in building out a presales team in previous roles
  • Past success at personally selling and managing large-scale sales campaigns
  • Experience working in a matrix organization
  • Ability to line up Services to Sales for joint-, cross- and up-selling and work closely to develop relationships both internally and externally
  • When travel is once again permitted, the expectation would be roughly <25% travel.

We are hiring at various experience levels and we’re particularly interested in having a diverse team with a broad set of skills and viewpoints. If this seems like your dream job, but you’re not sure if you qualify, apply anyway!
