Principal DevOps Solutions Architect

at Puppet, Inc. Remote - Europe

Hi, I’m Nigel KerstenField CTO at Puppet,

Summary of Role

Are you an experienced infrastructure-as-code engineer interested in working with some of the largest companies on the planet to improve their architectural designs, build solutions and improve their DevOps capabilities? Are you excited about what Puppet is doing and want to use information from these customers to collaborate with our R&D teams to improve our products?

Puppet is hiring a Principal Devops Solutions Architect to engage with our customers, working in a small team with a global focus to guide our largest and most complex customers and to create leverage and scale across the whole Customer Success organisation.

Reporting directly to the Field CTO, the Solutions Architect will work with our customers, pre-sales, and professional services teams to ensure we continue our tradition of delivering outstanding services to our clients.  In this role, you will engage in pre-sales conversations with customers for their architecture and implementation needs.  You will work with customers to understand their business requirements and impacts to proposed solutions.  You will provide direction and oversight to customers and professional services engineers involved in complex services engagements. You will coordinate with peers in Customer Success and other departments from R&D to Sales to collaborate on special initiatives and to improve feedback and communication loops. Also, because sometimes emergencies happen at short, you will take a lead role in working with support and engineering teams to help resolve critical issues at some of the largest and most complex organisations in the world.

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Significant practical expertise in using configuration management and automation frameworks to design and manage computing infrastructure
  • Consultative by default; comfortable working with engineers, architects, managers and executives to understand the business comprehensively
  • Skilled in educating highly technical stakeholders on the merits of a solution
  • Expert in verbal and written communication with a comprehensive understanding of technical and business audiences
  • Comfortable working across the intersection of software development and IT operations
  • Proficient in listening to customers and their needs; developing technical and business solutions that address their immediate and long term requirements
  • Ability to guide the development of workflows and strategies for development and operations.
  • Ability to accommodate 30% travel domestically and internationally
