Senior Instructional Designer

at Puppet, Inc. US - Remote

Hi, I’m Helen Ivory, Senior Director of Global Knowledge Management at Puppet.

I’m looking for an Instructional Designer to join our team to provide best-in-class learning experiences for our global sales professionals and partners.

The Global Knowledge Management team is a geographically dispersed team. We partner with the global sales organization to teach our sales teams and partners the skills, knowledge, and process expertise they need to maximize every buyer interaction. Our mandate is to modernize the sales enablement program to drive improvements in lead-to-conversion rate, sales velocity, and efficiency. You will be responsible for increasing predictable sales results by developing enablement content that supports sellers adding value in every customer interaction. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment - and you’re looking to have a material impact - this might be the opportunity for you.

As an Instructional Designer focused on sales enablement at Puppet, you will:

  • Develop and maintain sales enablement content, such as instructor-led training, videos, podcasts, eLearning modules, webinars, assessments, and playbooks, to accurately translate the value and differentiation of Puppet, its solutions, and its professional services.
  • Build and maintain outcome-based, role-specific sales enablement curricula that begins at new hire onboarding and includes continuous learning and development opportunities throughout the year.
  • Incorporate creative and cutting-edge strategies to develop and implement scalable solutions that engage a global audience and have a measurable impact on sales velocity and effectiveness.
  • Review and help manage the asset library to identify opportunities for improvement and to ensure the content remains current and relevant.
  • Develop technical learning content for our customer-facing technical education programs as needed.

Who you will be collaborating with…

  • Members of the sales enablement team who are the voice of the field.
  • Sales, sales leadership, revenue operations, marketing, customer success, and product teams as well as subject matter experts and key stakeholders across the organization for ongoing training needs and feedback on existing programs.
  • Internal instructional designers to create instructionally sound, engaging, and interactive sales enablement content.

Who are you?

  • You are an excellent visual narrator. You storyboard, create imagery out of ideas, and present facts in engaging and interesting ways.
  • You are a natural educator who enjoys finding new ways to solve problems and help make learning accessible and engaging for sales professionals.
  • You are a high-impact and high-energy sales trainer who can spark and sustain engagement with your audience.
  • You are a dynamic and collaborative player who is adept at building effective cross-functional relationships as well as internal relationships within our geographically distributed team.
  • You are a great communicator, self-aware, transparent, collaborative, and open to feedback.
  • You are committed to working in and fostering an inclusive, diverse, and respectful culture.

What valuable experience and skills will you bring to the table?

  • At least 2 years of experience developing sales enablement content, especially to support solution selling and positioning professional services.
  • Deep knowledge of sales methodologies such as solution selling and sales techniques.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of instructional methodologies, learning models, and industry design standards and best practices to develop interactive learning for a variety of delivery modalities.
  • Project management skills, certification, or demonstrated success managing competing priorities on-time and on-budget.
  • Experience with education technology such as learning management systems, sales enablement platforms, videography and video hosting services, content authoring tools, multimedia technology, and virtual delivery platforms.

Bonus, but not required (shout about it in your application if you have experience)

  • Proficiency with content standards, such as SCORM and AICC, and web development such as HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, and WordPress.
  • Experience with Puppet or other configuration management tools.
  • Knowledge of DevOps, infrastructure and app delivery automation solutions and technologies.

We are hiring at various experience levels and we’re particularly interested in having a diverse team with a broad set of skills and viewpoints. If this seems like your dream job, but you’re not sure if you qualify, apply anyway!
