Senior Director of Product Marketing

at Puppet, Inc. Portland, OR or Remote North America

Hi, I’m Erik Frieberg, Chief Marketing Officer at Puppet,

I’m looking for a Senior Director of Product Marketing to be part of a team that is defining modern infrastructure automation and delivery. We are looking for someone who loves product marketing: from positioning to packaging, from messaging to media briefings. We want someone who knows how to lead a team but still loves contributing as an individual—and loves making an impact every step along the way.

You will…

  • Be responsible for messaging and positioning of Puppet’s open source and commercial products and services, with a strong eye towards our target audience and competitive positioning.
  • Stay close to the market and demonstrate thorough understanding of technology trends, competitive moves, user requirements and potential partnerships.
  • Create content for sales activities, including data sheets, presentations, brochures, videos, web tools.
  • Provide direction for customer communications and press tours.
  • Partner closely with the marketing leadership team to create compelling demand generation programs and launch great products.
  • Work sales to increase the velocity of our business.

You are…

  • Creative, articulate, influential, and engaging, with a proven track record of success marketing software and services.
  • An agile coach and player—effectively balancing leading a team with rolling up your sleeves to get work done.
  • Constantly improving, experimenting, and trying to be a better marketer.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, scale-up environment, where every day brings new challenges and the need to intelligently adapt.

You have...

  • A deep understanding of your product and business, and a vocal advocate of how to make both better.
  • Experience in open source software and the IT infrastructure market.
  • The knowledge of how software is built, deployed, and updated.
  • Knowledge of the DevOps industry, including cloud and hybrid cloud environments.
  • The demonstrated success to prioritize your work and the initiatives you champion.
  • At least 12+ years of product marketing or related experience in enterprise software, ideally with experience in the development and operations software.
  • At least 5+years leading product marketers: supporting them through launches, analyst research, GTM planning, and positioning/messaging exercises.
  • Ability to travel. You will spend time at industry events, and working directly with prospects and customers.

We are hiring at various experience levels and we’re particularly interested in having a diverse team with a broad set of skills and viewpoints. If this seems like your dream job, but you’re not sure if you qualify, apply anyway!
